TWO WAYS TO GET MORE TRAFFIC FROM INSTAGRAM
One of the biggest challenges Instagram users face is that they can't link to anything in your Instagram captions. For those who don't yet have 10,000 followers and, with it, the ability to 'swipe up' to included links, the struggle is real. This leaves you with only one option to include a link anywhere on Instagram, and that is in your bio. Click HERE to see my Instagram page and what I'm talking about.
1. LINKTR.EE, THE SIMPLEST WAY TO HAVE MULTIPLE LINKS IN YOUR INSTAGRAM BIO
Let's talk about the simple solution, Linktr.ee. Linktr.ee allows you to add multiple links to your bio, rather than just the single one that Instagram allows. It's free and it's easy to use. I used it since it first came out. It looks like this:
WHY I AM NO LONGER USING LINKTR.EE
Sometime during the night, Instagram decided that Linktr.ee was no longer an allowable app to use on its site. Users received pop-ups stating they were using an illegal app. Assuming you knew what they were talking about, you then had to go in and delete or change your bio link before you could be back in business on Instagram. Scary and annoying.
Later I learned via Twitter that it was all a big mistake and that Instagram and Linktr.ee are friends again. Because Instagram can be moody and unpredictable, I quickly switched to option 2 below.
But, first, another reason to go with Option 2 rather than Linktr.ee. Linktr.ee, understandably, links to Linktree, not your blog or website. It allows you to list your links, but it's still Linktr.ee and has its name all over it. For branding, the link in your bio should be to your blog, website or shop. Drive business to yourself!
2. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO INSTEAD OF USING LINKTR.EE?
Make your own mobile optimized landing page on your website or blog. This is a page that is dedicated to your insta links. It won't be seen in the header of your blog or website. You will use the link only in your Instagram bio.
Using the awesome free app, Canva, I made my own buttons. The Canva buttons look like linktr.ee's but are my own. Another great thing about this method is that you can use your brand's colors and fonts for consistency.
I added my newly created buttons in my preferred order, then hyperlinked them to specific pages. I then published the list on a page on my wesbite. My insta-links page can be found HERE and looks like this:
