Greta Thunberg

Greta Thunberg [2003 - ] is the Swedish teenager who inspired an international movement to fight climate change. In 2018, at age 15, Greta began protesting in front of Parliament House (the seat of Sweden’s legislature), urging her country’s leaders to adhere to the Paris Climate Accord. The social media attention sparked protests around the world, a phenomenon that has been dubbed The Greta Effect. In an address to the UN climate conference, Thunberg blasted world leaders for their inaction on this existential crisis. She was Time magazine’s 2019 Person of the Year and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize a year later.
