During a recent trip to the Amish Country, I visited a farmer's market early in the morning. The flower vendors had just arranged their fresh-cut blooms when one particular bouquet caught my attention - a vibrant arrangement of warm peach roses, deep corals and pinks, and delicate periwinkle blossoms with touches of yellow and blue that radiated joy.

Back in my studio, I observed how light transformed these colors throughout the day - warm peach tones glowing in morning light, deep corals and pinks intensifying in afternoon sun, and blues shimmering at dusk. That's when Splendor was born - capturing that special moment when beauty stops you in your tracks.

I begin each mixed media floral painting by sketching flowers from life with vine charcoal on a brightly toned canvas. Large, confident brushstrokes of acrylic paint bring the initial vision to life.

To enhance the blooms, I add details with graphite and pops of pastel, creating depth and contrast. Each painting is finished with multiple coats of archival varnish, ensuring its longevity and vibrancy. This process allows me to celebrate the timeless beauty of nature in every piece.
